Bridges for Peace IN ACTION
YESHUA (JESUS) WAS TEACHING THE MULTITUDE and suddenly He stopped and said, “I feel compassion for the multitude because they have remained with Me now three days, and have nothing to eat” (Mark 8:2). He goes on to perform an amazing miracle in which 4,000 men (plus women and children) are fed with seven loaves of bread and a few small fish. There are several accounts of the feeding of the 5,000 and the 4,000 in the Gospels. Each time, Yeshua is concerned with the people’s need for food. He doesn’t send them away hungry. He feeds them.

European Parliament Backs Goldstone Report by Majority
Despite efforts by Jewish groups, the European Parliament has passed a resolution that calls on EU members states to “demand the implementation of the Goldstone report's recommendations.” The text was approved by the 736-member assembly in Strasbourg by 335 to 287 votes. It asks the EU's foreign policy chief, Baroness Catherine Ashton, to monitor the progress of the implementation of the UN report into the conduct of Israel and Hamas during the 2008/09 Gaza war. The European Parliament also expressed concern about “pressure placed on NGOs involved in the document's preparation”.

EU to Hamas—Release Shalit Immediately
The European Parliament on Thursday [March 11] passed a resolution calling on Hamas to release Gilad Shalit immediately, allow Red Cross representatives to visit the kidnapped Israeli soldier and "enable him to contact his family". The resolution, which mentions Shalit's dual French-Israeli citizenship, stated that "he is being kept in Gaza where he does not enjoy basic rights according to 3rd article to the Geneva convention and to the 3rd Geneva convention; his contact with the outside world is reported to be limited and (he) has had no reported contact with the Red Cross." The resolution called for the "immediate resolution of the case, which leads to the immediate release of Gilad Shalit."

Thousands of Tons of Aid Enter Gaza
Almost 14,000 tons of humanitarian aid was transferred to the Gaza Strip via Israel’s crossings during last week alone, as Israel continues to open their border with blockaded Gaza for humanitarian reasons, according to a statement released by the Israel Defense Forces. In addition to allowing key items in, Israel is also allowing some items out, presumably to help the Gaza economy: eight truckloads of carnation flowers were sent from Gaza to Europe. Almost 200 medical patients and accompanying individuals were also let into Israel and the West Bank region [Judea and Samaria] from Gaza for medical treatment reasons.

Britain Honors Bravery of Saviors of Jews During Holocaust
Holocaust Survivor Photo by Isranet
Prime Minister Gordon Brown has decorated Britons who saved Jews and others from the Nazi onslaught during World War II with the new “Hero of the Holocaust” medal. Brown had announced the creation of the award last year during a visit to the former Nazi death camp Auschwitz. The medal bears the inscription “in the service of humanity” and, on the backside, recognizes that the recipient’s “selfless actions preserved life in the face of persecution.” Two surviving heroes, Sir Nicholas Winton, 100, and Denis Avey, 91, received their medals in person at the prime minister’s official residence in 10 Downing Street, while another 25 Britons will be recognized posthumously.
